The pitchathon seems a long time ago now, but it really did happen and I have proof!
Voom sent me a link to the recordings :) http://www.bornready.uk/blog/voom-2016-vote-shortlist-pitch-onwards/
Meanwhile, the voom competition surges on.
The top three in each category are lined up to pitch to Richard Branson next week. Check them out here: https://www.vmbvoom.com/finalists
Best wishes, Jenn.

I'm afraid the voom show will be going on without us from here - but I'm pleased with how well we did in a very tough competition.
I entered voom because I wanted to practice promoting Flaparaps and baby pottying. I find it easy to talk to parents who seek me out, but introducing the subject in public is much mor challenging.
I've certainly had some practice now! And so have lots of you... ;)
That counts as a big win even without a cash prize or a trip to Necker Island. Go Flaparaps!
Thanks to everyone who came along for the ride, roped in family and friends, sent me good luck messages and really got behind me. If you're interested in what happens next, please pass on your email address here so that I can keep in touch: www.bornready.uk/beyond-voom.php
I'll send out another update when voom post links to the pitch videos. In the meantime, the semi finalists are listed here and they're well worth a look: www.vmbvoom.com/semifinalists
Best wishes, Jenn.
p.s If you pledged for a cartoon - thank you! Our virtual field is looking happily crowded and personal 'polaroids' will be sent out when voom give me access to your details.

Well, we made the official voom shortlist and I've been madly preparing for my 3 minute pitch and 5 minutes of questions. I'll be pitching tomorrow - Thursday - between 9:15 and 11:15 am and it will be streamed live on www.vmbvoom.com.
You can click over now if you like and check out the other pitches. I'm watching, and feeling rather nervous already...
OK! Let's see if I can do us proud.
Best wishes, Jenn.
(Replies to this email come straight to me, so feel free to send me encouragement, or comment on the pitchathon post on my Flaparaps facebook page. Thank you :) )

Well *that* was an exciting evening.
At 5pm we were in 80th position and on a sharp downward trajectory. Although we were still pulling in votes, we couldn't seem to keep pace with the competition.
At 6pm I sent out an update email. We were 79th :-/
And then… things started to turn around.
I started to receive messages saying 'my friend just voted, will try to get more!'. My Facebook feed exploded with people sharing our link. People who had been trying for weeks to login, finally managed to register their vote.
We started to climb…
By 8pm we were in 69th with 1,821 votes but still only a handful of votes away from 80th. At one point there were 4 entries below us with the same score. Voting was soooooo tight!
Over the next 4 hours, we added 229 votes to our vote count - and I can personally account for about 20 of them.
Which means that right down to the wire it was your shares, and your messages, and your friends that made the difference - and I can't thank you enough!
Thank you, thank you!!
At midnight, when the screens went blank, we were in 46th with 2,050 votes! WE DID IT!!
Now we need to wait for 2 days to make sure all the votes have been counted - the website warned that votes might take 24 hours to register. Let's hope that on the night the systems were coping well and the positions don't change dramatically.
What next? If we're through, we'll go to London in 11 day's time and pitch to a panel of experts - along with the 79 other qualifiers. If the experts decide we're top 20, we'll go to a weekend of workshops, and if we're in the top three after that, we get to pitch to Richard Branson!
I'll keep you updated on our progress.
Thank you for getting us this far!
Best wishes, Born Ready Jenn.

What a crazy day. We've had our biggest voting day ever: 271 votes so far, and our biggest fall: down 32 places. Disappointing, but we're doing our best and hanging on by the skin of our teeth! The day isn't over yet...
If anyone who voted recently has any untapped votes (partners, parents, friends) that they can send a quick personal note to ask for a vote - that could make all the difference in the world. Thank you!
Everyone who has exhausted their voting circle, I'm incredibly grateful for all you have done! Refresh our pitch now and then this evening to whether we're waving or drowning.
6 hours to go......
One last request. Please like this facebook post, comment 'voted, good luck!' and share it (if you're willing). It will cheer me up at 11:30pm if things are looking bleak ;) https://www.facebook.com/flaparaps/posts/1706718172878978
Good luck to us!
Now, if you want to have double the anxiety this evening, you can get invested in the Grow side of the competition (we're in Startup). Rebecca made contact when she read the Flaparaps pitch. She used cloth nappies on her 5 (!!) children so we had a lot to talk about ;) Now she teaches primary school teachers how to teach maths successfully - even to struggling students or if the school is in special measures. Her program is so successful that she needs to expand to meet demand and a good result in voom will propel her on her way. She's currently 69th and would love your vote to secure her position. https://www.vmbvoom.com/pitches/authentic-maths
(Now like and wish me luck on that facebook post for me, please :) )
Just think, you'll have a voom free facebook feed tomorrow!
Best wishes, Jenn.

Voom voting is going crazy! Will we make the cut to #pitchtorich?
Yes! Yes we will! But ONLY if....
You help us out :)
We're in 43rd - which is fantastic!! - but we need *another* 300 votes to stay in the top 80 until the votes closes on Monday night...
And I've run out of people to ask - as the bride who voted for me last night on her hen do will surely testify!
If you voted for Flaparaps because you think they're a great idea - please send one text, or one email to a good friend or family member and ask them to notch up a vote for us. If your partner hasn't voted yet, prod them into action!
If you voted because *someone* (me? a friend of yours?) asked you to - you've already done your bit! Thank you, thank you! We wouldn't even be in the running without you.
I'm at Center Parcs on a badly timed family holiday. I'm off to the pool... where *no-one* has their phones and hen parties are safe from interruption.
So I'm leaving you in charge of the campaign. Do us proud :) :)
Thank you! Born Ready Jenn.
p.s. One more vote... You can do it! Send your friend to: www.bornready.uk/vote
p.p.s. If you want to see how tight the voting is (and it's *really* tight, check out the leaderboard here: www.vmbvoom.com/leaderboard )

Richard Branson's #voom competition rumbles on... and it's really heating up. We're into the last two weeks of voting and Flaparaps are sitting in 36th out of more than 800 entries. And and we're only £10 off our fundraising goal!
We're doing brilliantly! And yet... every day new entries steam past us :-/
We need to fight back to stay in the game!
Now, I know you've already voted (thank you), but has the person sitting next to you on the sofa?
Give them a prod, please. Call out this web address: www.bornready.uk/voom and get them to hit 'vote' until the 'thanks for voting' message shows up. It'll only take a second... Thank you!
We're have 460 votes, so this message will hit 460 inboxes. I'm hoping we can clear 550 with the help of spouses, partners and anyone you're in the pub with (she says jokingly, fondly reminiscing about those 10 years at university *sigh*).
I know you'll sound like a nag, but I'll really appreciate it, so you can tell them that if helps?
Thanks for trying!
All the best, Born Ready Jenn
p.s. Let's meet the crowdfunding goal while we're at it :) You *know* you want a cartoon of yourself in full attachment parenting mode standing in a field. How could anyone not want that? It's inconceivable!
